FAQ
Hiddenfjord is a family-owned business founded by the grandfather of the current owners. Being family-owned gives us the freedom to care about what matters most to us: sustainability, innovation, integrity, and financial prudence.
This liberty allows us to have an idealistic focus on sustainability and innovation without constant pressure from shareholders to deliver short-term profits.
In addition, the Faroe Islands’ year-round stable ocean temperatures, high waves, and strong currents create perfect conditions for raising salmon of exceptional quality.
Our unique stress-free harvesting and salmon processing methods are key factors that contribute to the quality and long shelf life of Hiddenfjord salmon.

No, Hiddenfjord salmon are raised without the use of antibiotics or hormones.
Our fresh salmon is available in the USA and Europe, while our frozen products are sold worldwide, including in Asia, Europe, the USA and the Middle East.
Our salmon are fed a diet that includes fishmeal, fish oil, and other essential nutrients.
Most fish species used for fishmeal, such as blue whiting and mackerel, are sourced from the North Atlantic Ocean, reflecting salmon’s natural diet. We source our feed from certified feed producers in Norway, Denmark, and the Faroe Islands.

Our decision to eliminate all air freight comes as a consequence of our strong dedication to be environmentally sustainable. This is our core value. We must take care of our environment, so future generations have the same opportunities as we do today.
Air freight is a major contributor to global CO2 emissions. By switching to sea freight only, we have reduced our CO2 emissions for overseas transportation by 94%, saving hundreds of thousands of tons of CO2.
