Freedom
to care
Hiddenfjord stands as the sole 100% Faroese-owned salmon farming company, owned by brothers Atli and Regin Gregersen. With roots tracing back to 1887, this family-owned company has evolved under the stewardship of its current generation, transforming Hiddenfjord into a distinctive brand within the salmon industry. This achievement stems from our unwavering ambition and the freedoms inherent in being a family-owned business.
As a family-owned entity, Hiddenfjord enjoys the liberty to prioritize sustainability and devote ample time to innovation, free from the short-term profit pressures typically imposed by shareholders. This autonomy enables us to make substantial investments in research and development, actively participating in and funding various projects that also benefit the entire industry.
Our core value is sustainability. A commitment to deliver exceptional quality products to our customers while safeguarding the environment. Our aim is to create an environmentally sustainably product that nourishes the world.
- Atli Gregersen
The foundation of our company's identity and values can be traced back to our longstanding emphasis on integrity and community spirit. Originally established as PF Fiskavirkið in 1929, Hiddenfjord – under the stewardship of the current owners’ grandfather Jóan Pauli Gregersen (on their father’s side) – began as a dried salted cod producer, a venture initiated in collaboration with the local community to stimulate job creation.
Additionally, Hiddenfjord's lineage extends from the activities of S.P. Petersen, founded in 1887 by the Gregersen brothers' great-grandfather on their mother's side. This company, renowned for its relentless pursuit of producing the finest quality product, garnered international recognition as early as 1898. Today, this legacy of commitment to unparalleled quality continues to define Hiddenfjord's values and ethos.
